TXOGA Statement on U.S. House Energy & Commerce Committee Hearing in Port Arthur

"We agree that the LNG industry in Texas is essential to the success of local communities, our state’s position as a global energy leader, and meeting ever-growing energy demands around the world.”

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA) President Todd Staples today issued this statement following the U.S. House Energy & Commerce Committee’s hearing in Port Arthur on Monday, which focused on the Biden Administration’s recent decision to pause liquified natural gas (LNG) export permit approvals:

“We commend the Committee for their leadership in convening this Monday’s hearing in Port Arthur, where witnesses described the negative impacts on local communities of the Biden Administration’s decision to halt approval of LNG projects as well as how the decision bolsters hostile nations and threatens U.S. and global security. Witnesses also outlined the many positive contributions of the LNG industry to local communities, their workforce, education, and the economy. We agree that the LNG industry in Texas is essential to the success of local communities, our state’s position as a global energy leader, and meeting ever-growing energy demands around the world.”

Founded in 1919, TXOGA is the oldest and largest oil and gas trade association in Texas representing every facet of the industry.
