Last week, ten Democratic Socialists of America members won primaries for Congress or the state legislature in New York. Most called for abolishing ICE and many for "defunding the police. "That's become a major theme of the Democratic Socialists who are winning elections in major cities. Nearly every major city has a shortage of police officers. Los Angeles is at a 30-year low in uniformed officers and Washington D.C. is at a 50-year low.

President Donald J. Trump signed a proclamation temporarily suspending countervailing duties (CVDs) on certain phosphate fertilizer imports, providing immediate relief to American farmers while advancing the Administration’s broader strategy to strengthen America’s fertilizer supply chain. The action is expected to reduce phosphate fertilizer prices by approximately 22 percent, benefiting more than 100,000 farms across 97 million planted acres nationwide.
The first piece of legislation, the Premium Transparency Act, requires health insurers and Medicare Advantage plans to publicly disclose exactly what share of every premium dollar goes to patient care versus overhead and profit. This bill also directs the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to standardize how insurers communicate benefits and cost-sharing, giving consumers the ability to make true comparisons between plans.
"We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, among them life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." This sentence has been called in a recent book by author Walter Isaacson “The Greatest Sentence Ever Written.” I agree, and it certainly was a sentence that changed history. As America celebrates its 250th anniversary, we must reflect on what these words mean.
Gov. Greg Abbott today celebrated Texas being recognized as the "Best Business Climate in the Nation" for the 4th year in a row. Texas consistently leads all states in attracting job-creating business investment and is today home to 57 Fortune 500 headquarters — the most in the nation, as well as hundreds of publicly traded firms and more than 3.5 million small businesses. Since 2015 under Governor Abbott’s leadership, Texas has gained more than 2.6 million jobs.
The recent primary elections were about far more than local races – they offered the clearest picture yet of where today's Democrat Party is headed. The faces of Zohran Mamdani's movement include candidates who literally take pride in wiping their hands on the American Flag, blame white supremacy for 9/11, advocate for decriminalizing prostitution, and embrace anti-American extremism.
Fentanyl is the number one killer of young Americans between the ages of 18 and 45. Every single day, moms and dads across Texas, and across this entire nation, are burying their children. This isn't just a law enforcement crisis. It’s a generational crisis. It’s a national security threat to our youth and a moral failure if we do not use every tool at our disposal to crush it. I was proud to introduce the "FEND Off Fentanyl Act" which was signed into law.

Scratch a Democrat, and you’ll find a Communist underneath their lizard skin. Last week’s elections in New York City just confirmed that — the Younger Leftists are ascendant, and the Older Democrats, who were also Leftists, are very upset. Think of it like the #MeToo movement. Remember that? Younger, hard-left women (and men) wanted to gain political power from older, establishment Democrats. This is all really a generational Young Socialists vs. Older Leftists battle.
Governor Greg Abbott today announced that a Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF) grant of $3,074,255 has been extended to Quantum Global Technologies, LLC (QGT) for its new services facility in Austin. The facility is expected to create 287 new jobs and represents more than $43 million in capital investment. Upon completion, the QGT facility will become Ultra Clean’s first location in North America equipped to service semiconductor fabrication chamber tool sets used in the production of 2nm chips that power next-generation technologies.
Democrats across the spectrum are still struggling to comprehend what happened in the New York Democrat primaries this week. New York Attorney General Letitia James is one of the most Trump-obsessed violators of the law anywhere in the country. She manufactured cases hoping to put the Democrats’ main political opponent in jail. But even she lashed out at Mayor Zohran Mamdani for attempting to “blow up” the Democrat Party by backing "Socialist"
Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock today announced that the Texas Opioid Abatement Fund Council (OAFC or Council) recently voted to award 80 grants totaling $48.9 million to entities across Texas responding to the opioid crisis. The unlikely symbol of this phenomenon is "Freddy," a young German soccer fan who has become an internet sensation while documenting his first road trip across the United States. Freddy's viral social media posts have attracted tens of millions of impressions because they reflect something both rare and refreshing: genuine, boy-like wonder. As he has crisscrossed the American South, Freddy has gushed at everything from Waffle House and Taco Bell to Buc-ee's, Bass Pro Shops, sprawling football stadiums and the impressive size of regular, middle-class American homes.
As a physician who cares for patients in skilled Nursing Homes across Houston & Galveston, I see the toll of Alzheimer’s & Dementia every day – in patients who lose their independence, in families struggling to make difficult decisions, and in caregivers who are exhausted and heartbroken. Alzheimer’s is one of the greatest health challenges facing our nation – and for too long it has failed to receive the urgency and coordinated response it demands. In Texas, we're changing that.
Governor Greg Abbott today announced that Texas has submitted the comprehensive documentation required to seek reimbursement from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for costs incurred by the State of Texas to secure the border. Texas bore the largest share of border security expenses, more than $10 billion, and this submission to DHS puts the state in a position to recover taxpayer funds and return them back to hardworking Texans. Texas will apply for reimbursement from the DOJ in the near future.
