Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued the following statement today upon completion of the Texas Senate’s marathon floor session, during which 10 of Gov. Abbott’s special session items were passed: “House Democrats now face a simple choice: return to the Capitol and do the job they were elected to do, or continue their ‘vacation,’ staging a media circus while mingling with blue-state governors who oppose Texas values.
The Texas A&M Forest Service has raised the Wildland Fire Preparedness Level to Level 2, indicating that elevated fire danger is observed in some regions of the state. Texans are urged to implement wildfire prevention measures, including avoiding activities that may cause sparks or flames, making an emergency plan, following instructions from local officials, and keeping emergency supplies easily available.
President Trump recognized this from the start. Early in his first term, he signed the NASA Transition Authorization Act of 2017 and Space Policy Directive-1, directing NASA to return to the moon as the first step toward human missions to Mars and beyond. These actions reignited America’s vision for space exploration and reaffirmed our leadership in the final frontier.
There's a reason he should be upset. California companies are pulling up in droves and moving to the Lone Star State and elsewhere. But that isn't what's bothering him. Newsom cares about politics and power, not markets and business. He's upset that the Texas state legislature is moving to redistricting that could add up to five Republican seats in 2026. So, Newsom wants to redistrict, which could add another five Democrat seats in California.
As the debate intensifies in the Texas Capitol, a dangerous and misleading narrative is taking root that the state’s narrowly tailored medical marijuana program (TCUP) can somehow serve as a full replacement for the thriving, diverse, and federally legal market of hemp-derived THC products. This is not only false, it's a manufactured choice that threatens to strip 1,000s of Texans of access to safe, affordable, and constitutionally protected alternatives.
According to the National Weather Service, a storm system moving across the state may generate severe thunderstorms with potential to cause flash flooding beginning tonight. This threat is anticipated across the Northwest Texas region, including the Panhandle, and is expected to shift toward North Texas as we reach the middle portion of the week. Additionally, the National Weather Service is monitoring the Southeast corner of the state this evening.
The school year starts as early as this week and next across the country – and the Education Blob is having a panic attack that more and more children are now taking advantage of their option to leave public schools. Thanks to school choice victories, as many as an additional million kids will be enrolled in charter schools, or private, or Catholic, or religious schools this fall. Parents whose kids have gained access to better schools? They're feeling liberated.
Miller said that other tools like the Sterile Insect Technique (SIT), which was used in fighting against the screwworm threat from the 1930s to the 1970s, will still play an important role, but it’s no longer enough. Miller said that relying only on sterile flies is outdated and that new and improved approaches are required. He said TDA Swormlure marks a new chapter in prevention, supported by science, intended for widespread use, and created with smarter tools and a stronger defense.
Senator Adam Hinojosa announced today that his office has secured Ten Commandments posters for every public school classroom in Senate District 27 to support full compliance with Senate Bill 10, recently signed into law by Governor Abbott during the 89th Texas Legislature. SB 10 requires public schools to display a framed or poster-sized copy of the Ten Commandments in each classroom.
Adam Schiff has always had that smug “I know something you don’t know” smirk. This week, a Democratic whistleblower—someone who worked in Schiff’s own House orbit for more than a decade—told the FBI that Schiff personally approved leaking classified material in order to smear Donald Trump. Not a rumor. Not a guess. Not an “I heard it from a guy.” The whistleblower alleges Schiff gave the order in a general staff meeting. Translation: he wanted an audience for his treachery.
“Consumers have the ability to spend on household priorities, as wages are growing above the rate of inflation,” said National Retail Federation President & CEO Matthew Shay, as the organization released its July "Retail Monitor Report" showing core retail sales – which excludes restaurant and car & gas purchases – increased nearly 6% year over year. And, total sales were up 4.83% year over year for the first seven months of 2025.
Governor Greg Abbott joined the Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund earlier today as they presented $25,000 checks – raised during last month’s “Strait to the Heart” benefit concert by Country Music Legend and Texas resident George Strait – to help assist families who suffered severe storm damage or lost their homes during the catastrophic Hill Country floods. The concert raised over $6 million dollars.
Since the devastating floods that swept through Central & West Texas on July 4th, my office and I have been working closely with local leaders and officials to ensure that residents in Texas's 11th Congressional District have access to the resources and assistance they need. If you were impacted by the floods, there are just under 30 days left to apply for FEMA assistance. The deadline on Thursday, September 4th.
State Representative Carrie Isaac (R-District 73) has filed House Bill 250 during the 89th Texas Legislature’s First Special Session to address the urgent need for meaningful property tax reform. HB 250 promotes truth in taxation, reins in unchecked appraisal growth, and strengthens voter oversight of local spending, all while preserving essential services provided by local taxing districts.
The major force for peace in the world today is not the United Nations, it is President Donald Trump. In his four ½ years as President, he has accomplished more to end wars and save lives than the organization that is supposedly “the world’s best hope for peace.” In his first term, President Trump negotiated the Abraham Accords, which established diplomatic relations between Israel and four Arab nations: Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan, and the United Arab Emirates. He also negotiated an “economic normalization deal” between Serbia and Kosovo, two hostile nations.
“In 2017, Sen. Lois Kolkhorst and I were ahead of our time in addressing the issue of women’s privacy, passing legislation out of the Senate to keep men out of women’s restrooms and boys out of girls’ locker rooms and showers in schools. Unfortunately, under previous speakers, the bill never cleared the House.
U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), and Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) introduced the Facilitating Useful Loss Limitations to Help Our Unique Service Economy (FULL HOUSE) Act. This bipartisan bill restores professional gamblers ability to deduct 100% of their gambling losses, ensuring they are not unfairly taxed on phantom income.
