Darren Yancy Planning Run for Texas Senate – SD 22

darren-yancyBurleson, Texas – Darren Yancy revealed today that he is planning a run for the Texas Senate because incumbent Kip Averitt said that he intends to resign his senate seat on Wednesday, March 17.

Governor Rick Perry will then be able to call a special election. An election could be held on the May uniform election date, Saturday, May 8.

“The good citizens of our district – including the 25,000 voters who selected me in the recent Republican Primary – are looking for a state senator who will protect our conservative values,” said Darren Yancy.

Senate District 22 includes the counties of Bosque, Coryell, Ellis, Falls, Hill, Hood, Johnson, McLennan, Navarro, and Somervell. Darren Yancy, a devoted husband to wife, Carol, and loving father of four children – Dane, Zach, Brenna, and Gene – is a life-long Texan with deep roots in state Senate District 22.

Why should the only other Republican to run for the office have to run again?

He has to run again because there is a special election.
Not nominating him was another voter screwup.

I know Darren. Darren is a good strong conservative. Far too many people were not even aware that Kip was not going to run again. He was on the ballot because he announced too late to be taken off.

Then there was the movement by those who wanted to control the seat again, so that pressed to get people to vote for Kip. Not enough attention has been given to the investigation going on that might well implicate Kip in some way. I understand that inquiry is going on in Ellis County. Check it out.

If only we could require a knowledge test before being allowed to vote for any office, vote counting would be a lot easier as there would be far fewer votes to count.
