Sharp for Senate Campaign Moves Across Texas
Candidate says campaign is “All about the future.”
The first group of college Democrats in Texas to endorse a candidate in the upcoming United States Senate special election announced yesterday that they are backing candidate John Sharp, saying his campaigning over the past year, for a balanced budget and economic security, shows his commitment to put in the hard work to win the race. “John Sharp’s campaign is all about us,” said Laura Barry, president of the Stephen F. Austin Young Democrats in Nacogdoches.
“John has our pledge to work just as hard as he is to give Texas a fresh voice in Washington,” added Ms. Barry, who also serves as the political director of the Texas College Democrats, which has 34 chapters across the state. “He has the vision to lead us into the future – and we will be there with him every step of the way.”
Sharp: “I’m campaigning full time, and will continue to.”
The announcement last week by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison that she won’t be resigning her seat before the March 2010 primary election set off a round of speculation about what candidates for her seat would do now.
Said Sharp of the Hutchison announcement, “I said when I got into this process last December that I would be a candidate when the seat becomes available, whether that is in 2012 or anytime before then. I’m campaigning full time and will continue to.”
TV viewers may have been surprised this weekend to see an Aggie sign in the midst of the cheering section as TCU’s Horned Frogs picked up a convincing 55-28 win over Utah in Fort Worth – and came a step closer to a Bowl Championship Series bid.
Seen in the crowd several times during the ESPN’s College Gameday broadcast of the gridiron battle was a “Sharp Senator” banner amidst the “Go Frogs!” signs.
Exactly when, or if, a special U.S. Senate election will take place is up in the air.
Sharp, nonetheless, say he will continue to travel Texas with his “message of balancing the federal budget to get our economy back on track, improving access to college for middle-class families, fixing our health care crisis, making us energy independent, and raising our standing on the world stage again.”

I know it may be bad that I feel this way, but I have come to equate ALL Democrats with Socialists and Communists. Look how the Democrats in Congress are being bullied about by the Democratic leadership. Can John Sharp be different?

Does John Sharp have enough backbone to buck against the ungodliness of his party or would he become another cog in the socialistic/communistic machinery. Does he have enought backbone to be a “blue-dog Democrat?” In my opinion, I don’t think he has the courage to stand against about 85% of his party. I would be curious to find out what percentage of the “Demoncrats” are “blue-dog” Democrats.
David, I consider the “Democrats” socialists and communists and the “Republicrats” socialists and conservatives. Right now the Republican party is run by the moderates and progressives. Hopefully we all are wising up and seeing what those are the code words for. The Bible says, “You’ll know them by their fruit.”
