Texas also added jobs at a faster annual rate than the nation, growing at 1.1% from August 2025 to August 2026. Industry sectors show the fastest growth rates in Texas from August 2025 to August 2026 include Professional and Business Services, Leisure and Hospitality, and Construction.

The approval follows the Trump administration’s EPA decision to grant Texas primacy over Class VI carbon storage wells, which is a direct result of the administration’s push to cut federal red tape and return permitting authority to the state level. This approval marks the first Class VI well permit issued by the RRC since receiving delegation by the EPA. In 2025, the EPA under the Trump administration, had previously approved a Class VI well permit for the Brown Pelican Project in Ector County.

Representative Greg Bonnen M.D. of Friendswood, Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, will lead the team. Texas already has the foundation a national space academy requires. NASA’s Johnson Space Center is designated as the agency's Human Spaceflight Center of Excellence and home of the astronaut corps.
