Democrat: House impeachment efforts may play into President Trumps hands"
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Now that the Russia hoax has failed theyre turning to impeachment which is equally ridiculous. The 2020 Democrats are increasingly playing to the radical fringe of their party and are even willing to destabilize and divide the country to do it said Trump Campaign National Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany adding that Democrats have never stopped trying to overturn the lawful results of the 2016 Election."
White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley noting that House Democrats are pushing the idea of impeachment because their failure to do so would make the last two years of investigating look like a waste" said:
Its pretty clear what House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler and the Democrats are up to.
I dont know what Jerry Nadler thinks hes going to get that special counsel Robert Mueller didnt.
They dont want to get to the truth at this point" said Gidley.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has tried to tamp down her partys cries for impeachment most recently during a conference call with party leaders Monday night.
But South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said recently that the rising calls for impeachment show Pelosi is not in charge of the Democratic Party."
The Democratic Party doesnt accept the fact that President Trump won. So at the end of the day were just going to have to deal with this in 2020 at the ballot box" Graham said.
Pelosi also told Democrats in a recent letter that the facts regarding holding the president accountable can be gained outside of impeachment hearings."
But several Democrat presidential candidates such as Sen. Kamala D. Harris (D-CA) Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) have already called for impeachment proceedings to begin.
Theyre so desperate to stand out among the field of socialist Democrats theyll say anything for a little attention" McEnany said.
At the same time some Democrat lawmakers have begun to point to Republicans 1998 impeachment of President Bill Clinton which led to a subsequent backlash against the GOP in that years midterm elections as cause for concern.
Congressman Stephen Lynch (D-MA) recently told CNN that House Democrats impeachment efforts may play into President Trumps hands" in 2020.
I think politically for the Democrats we face that same danger here" said Lynch.
Following last weeks release of the Mueller Report which concluded there was no coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia a Morning Consult-Politico Poll released Tuesday showed a scant 34 of voters say they would support an impeachment effort.
President Trump has said hes opposed to current or former White House aides testifying before Congress because they have already cooperated with the two-year long Mueller probe.
