Texans for Lawsuit Reform Endorses Hecht, Bland , Boyd & Busby for Texas Supreme Court Re-Election

“From his time as a Navy JAG officer, to his principled tenure as judge, Chief Justice Hecht has led a life committed to public service and upholding the rule of law.”

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC (TLRPAC) today endorsed Chief Justice Nathan Hecht for reelection as Chief Justice to the Texas Supreme Court, as well as their backing of Justice Jane Bland in Place 6, Justice Jeff Boyd for Place 7, and Justice Brett Busby in Place 8 for reelection to the Texas Supreme Court.

“From his time as a Navy JAG officer to his principled tenure as a judge, Chief Justice Hecht has led a life committed to public service and upholding the rule of law,” TLRPAC General Counsel Lee Parsley said.

“He has led the Texas Supreme Court with integrity, actively working as chief justice to improve the efficiency of our entire legal system and serving as a passionate advocate for access to justice for low-income, underserved and vulnerable Texans. He understands that a judge’s duty is to enforce the law as-written, not legislate from the bench. TLRPAC is proud to support him in his reelection as chief justice.”

Hecht has served as chief justice of the Texas Supreme Court since 2013, and as a justice on the court since 1989, making him the longest-serving member of the court in Texas history and a senior Texas appellate judge in active service. Prior to this, he was a justice on the Texas Fifth Court of Appeals and judge of the 95th District Court in Dallas County. He was previously a partner Locke Purnell Boren Laney & Neely, now Locke Lord LLP.

Hecht received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy with honors from Yale University and a law degree from Southern Methodist University. He has received the Southern Methodist University School of Law Distinguished Alumni Award for Judicial Service and the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation Distinguished Public Service Award.
