Sen. Cruz to Sec. Mayorkas: President Biden Must Take Responsibility for This Border Crisis, and Reverse the Destructive Policies Causing It

“Until President Biden, Border Czar Vice President Harris & Sec. Mayorkas take full responsibility and reverse their destructive immigration policies that've caused this crisis on our border, Del Rio and other South Texas border communities will continue to bear the brunt of these political decisions."

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, today released the following statement in response to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas visiting Del Rio, Texas as thousands of illegal immigrants flood the Del Rio International Bridge:

“President Biden’s open border politics and policies are endangering thousands of lives every single day. Now, his administration is trying to do damage control after over 10,000 illegal immigrants have poured over the border and into Del Rio, Texas. Sec. Mayorkas went on yet another photo-op visit today to South Texas in an attempt to save face for President Biden and his administration’s failures.

“Last Thursday, I was briefed in Del Rio by Sector Border Patrol on the horrific man-made crisis taking place on the ground at the Del Rio International Bridge. I saw firsthand the over 10,000 illegal immigrants who have overwhelmed a Texas border community. I saw a strain on resources and a lack of COVID-19 testing because of President Biden and Vice President Harris’ political decision not to enforce our laws and protect the southern border.

“Until President Biden, Border Czar Vice President Harris, and Sec. Mayorkas take full responsibility and reverse their destructive immigration policies that have caused this crisis on our border, Del Rio and other South Texas border communities will continue to bear the brunt of these political decisions.

"Enough of the photo-ops. Get to work securing our southern border," said Cruz.
