Longtime Public Servant and Edinburg Native, Casandra “Cassy” Garcia Announces Candidacy for Congress

"I pledge to work tirelessly every day to make the American dream possible for every citizen and family that calls District 28 home."

Texas Insider Report: McALLEN, Texas – Republican Casandra “Cassy” Garcia filed paperwork today to be a candidate for U.S. House of Representatives in Texas’ 28th Congressional District.

“Our border is in an ongoing crisis and the Biden administration has abandoned our communities here in South Texas. I’m running for Congress to be a strong voice for our law enforcement, farmers, landowners, small businesses, and families. We need real leaders in Washington who are focused less on publicity tours and more on getting legislative results,” said Garcia.

In addition to concentrating on getting badly needed resources into the hands of our law enforcement and border security agencies, Garcia said she will push back against the federal government’s overreach and protect our individual freedom and liberties.

She’ll alos fight for good paying jobs and oppose any abuses of power that threaten our pro-energy economy and keep small businesses from thriving.

For over 17 years, Cassy Garcia has served the communities of South Texas. She most recently worked as U.S. Senator Ted Cruz’s Deputy State Director and received a Presidential appointment to serve as Commissioner for the White House Hispanic Prosperity Initiative. Prior to joining Sen. Cruz’s office in 2013, Cassy served as regional field representative for the Texas Department of Agriculture as a liaison to agriculture, business, and economic development organizations, at local, state, and federal levels of government.

She received a bachelor’s degree in Communications and earned a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Texas - Pan American now known as the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

“The outpouring of support for my campaign has been overwhelming,” said Garcia.

“People across this district are hungry for a new voice in Washington, one that inspires hope and is focused on creating jobs, protecting innocent life, and upholding our Constitutional rights. I pledge to work tirelessly every day to make the American dream possible for every citizen and family that calls District 28 home,”
Garcia concluded.
