The Obama Economy: More Bad News

As U.S. Economy Falters Dramatically, House Republicans Continue to Push for Common-Sense, Pro-Growth Solutions

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Bill Flores (R-Texas), a former business owner, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after the release of the second quarter report on America’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, reporting the economy grew at 1.3%:

“This morning, American families and businesses received more disappointing news as the latest economic report highlights the Obama administration’s unfulfilled promises and disastrous policies that have failed to create an environment conducive to economic growth. Our national unemployment rate is currently at 9.2 percent and it has remained above 8 percent for 29 months – the longest period of sustained high unemployment since the Great Depression.

“One out of every six working-age Americans is out of work or underemployed, and it now takes an average of 10 months for out of work Americans to find a new job. And now, the latest news of the dismal second quarter GDP growth opens the door to even higher unemployment rates. Adding to the bad news is the downward revision of the first quarter GDP from 1.9% to 0.4%. After two and a half years of record spending, job-destroying taxes and an oppressive regulatory regime, the invisible president and Washington Democrats have abdicated their responsibilities again and left struggling Americans with no plan to lead our country out of this spending and debt-driven economic crisis.

“For seven months, House Republicans have continued to focus on job creation and economic growth. We passed the Path to Prosperity budget. We passed the Cut, Cap and Balance Act. And in our ‘Plan for America’s Job Creators’ we are pressing for significant cuts in federal spending, a comprehensive energy policy and an improved regulatory environment in Washington in order to restore the confidence needed for small businesses and entrepreneurs to invest in our economy. House Republicans are committed to taking every possible step to spur job creation and get our economy back on track so that we may restore America’s promise and prosperity for future generations.”

I recently read that 1 out of 6 workers in America was employed by government at the federal, state or local level. Likewise just today I read that 1 out of 5 new hires, especially in high tech or degree required positions, was a foreign national hired through one of our Visa programs. Clearly we have a problem with employers, both government and private sector, and the choices they are allowed to make.

I’ll be the first to admit that the way the government is run remains a mystery to me, but someone needs to explain THIS to me.

If the current national debt is about $15 trillion dollars and the projected national debt in 10 years is $20 trillion dollars, how is that a debt reduction and how does it equate to spending cuts?

Congressman Flores is speaking the truth. Our government must operate under the same financial principals as its citizens. We must live within our means and not incur debt that will be passed on to our children and their children.

It is incredible that our President has been in office for 2 1/2 years and has yet to even propose a budget. Until he does, he has no credibility in criticizing the budget proposals of either house.

Congressman Flores says one thing and votes another.
HE and EVERY other “CONSERVATIVE” that caves in for party unity WILL be challenged in the 2012 election.
If they are fools enough to believe :

GOD CREATED VIRGINIA

God was missing for six days. Eventually, Michael, the
archangel, found him, resting on the seventh day.

He inquired, “Where have you been?”

God smiled deeply and proudly pointed downwards through the
clouds, “Look, Michael. Look what I’ve made.”

Archangel Michael looked puzzled, and said, “What is it?”

“It’s a planet,” replied God, “and I’ve put life on it”.

I’m going to call it Earth and it’s going to be a place to test Balance.”

“Balance?” inquired Michael, “I’m still confused.”

God explained, pointing to different parts of Earth.

“For example, northern Europe will be a place of great
opportunity and wealth, while southern Europe is going to be poor.

Over here I’ve placed a continent of white people, and over
there is a continent of black people. Balance in all things.”

God continued pointing to different countries.

“This one will be extremely hot, while this one will be
very cold and covered in ice.”

The Archangel , impressed by God’s work, then pointed to a
land area and said, “What’s that one?”

“That’s Virginia , the most glorious place on earth. There are beautiful mountains, rivers and streams, lakes, forests, hills, and plains.
The people from Virginia are going to be handsome, modest,
intelligent, and humorous, and they are going to travel the world.
They will be extremely sociable, hardworking, high achieving, carriers of peace, and producers of good things”

Michael gasped in wonder and admiration, but then asked,
“But what about balance, God? You said there would be balance.”

God smiled, “Right next to Virginia is Washington , D.C….Wait till you see the idiots I put there.”
