Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas — “I was just in Houston, and was surprised as I met with many of the bankers there that the Hurricane Harvey devastation has caused little to no bank problems in terms of payments defaults or credits being deferred, but their employees were affected,” Texas Banking & Economic Analyst Marc Flaster tells Insider’s Jim Cardle.
“And except for what The New York Times wrote, as far as I can tell they’re back to business in Houston,” Flaster says. “Some of the bankers have actually put their own money in their employees hands to help,” says Flaster.
“Most importantly, the housing availability was there and in place, so it afforded a lot of people to stay in the city and stay at work. They’re getting through it.”
