Democrats reeling as sexual allegation claims come non-stop
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. — First-term Democrat Congressman Ruben Kihuen from Nevada’s 4th Congressional District was accused of sexual harassment while running for office, and now says that House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi knew about the allegations, supported him anyway, and put millions of dollars into his 2016 Congressional Campaign.
But as the allegations became public this past weekend, Pelosi quickly demanded Kihuen’s resignation, while Kihuen tells ABC News that Pelosi knewn about the sexual harassment allegations and backed him despite the claims.
While Pelosi said over the weekend that she believed Kihuen’s accuser, Kihuen had the following to say:
“They looked into them. They didn’t find anything, and they continued investing millions of dollars in my campaign.
“They went out there and campaigned for me.”
Drew Hammill, a spokesman for Pelosi, insisted to ABC News that Pelosi “first learned of these allegations from BuzzFeed last week.”
A spokeswoman for the DCCC similarly denied Kihuen’s account.
“The young woman’s documented account is convincing, and I commend her for the courage it took to come forward.
“In light of these upsetting allegations, Congressman Kihuen should resign,” Pelosi said on Saturday.
