Austin Economic Club Opens Higher Ed Breakfast to Members
Humana’s President & CEO also scheduled for Tuesday, April 30th

As Texas’ legislators struggle to find solutions to the rising cost of college and Higher Education, the Austin Economic Club has announced a March 8th presentation
by Jamie P. Merisotis, President & CEO of the nationally-recognized Lumina Foundation.

Lumina’s mission is to increase the percentage of Americans who hold high-quality degrees and credentials to 60% by 2025.
As one of the most important topics affecting Texas’ 2013 Legislative Session and long-term economic success, this to
be an insightful and thought-provoking presentation by Lumina Foundation CEO, Jamie Merisotis.
Before joining Lumina in January 2008, Mr. Merisotis founded and served 15 years as president of the Washington,
D.C.-based Institute for Higher Education Policy, one of the world’s premier education research and policy centers.
Mr. Merisotis has committed to outline what changes he feels are needed in the present Texas educational system to help facilitate long term economic growth for our nation.

As the Texas Legislature struggles
with the provision of healthcare and national mandates, we look forward to his informative and insightful comments during a breakfast presentation at the Austin Club in downtown Austin.
With a B.A. from Texas A & M, and an MBA from University of Houston, Mr. Broussard’s history and personal ties to Texas gives him a first-hand knowledge of the health care crisis facing Texas as a state.
