AFP-Texas Applauds Dewhurst
Signs Defending the American Dream Pledge
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas — “We encourage all of Texas’ elected officials and candidates
for elected office to sign this critical pledge,” said Americans for Prosperity-Texas Director Peggy Venable, applauding U.S. Senate Candidate David Dewhurst for signing AFP’s Defending the American Dream Pledge.
“Government should be fiscally disciplined and not pose an unnecessary burden on the taxpayers, especially in this economic environment,” Venable said.
“I am proud to sign this pledge in support of principles I have believed in and fought for my entire life,” said Dewhurst.
“Limited government is essential to our freedom and in the United States Senate, I promise to work every day to lift the weight of government regulation and oversight and reduce spending, giving power back to the American people.”
Dewhurst joins more than 80 elected officials and candidates across Texas on the federal, state and local levels who are pledging to “support limiting spending growth to population growth plus inflation; creating Emergency and Budget Stabilization funds with excess tax revenue, and returning any tax dollars above the necessary amount back to the taxpayers through tax cuts; and requiring voter or legislative super majority approval for tax and spending increases.”
“Thanks to the leadership of these individuals who have pledged to protect the taxpayer’s interests, Texas has become the beacon of fiscal sanity in the United States. Good policies promote prosperity, as we have seen in our state,” said Venable.
Americans for Prosperity (AFP), a nationwide organization of citizen-leaders committed to advancing every individual’s right
to economic freedom and opportunity, believes reducing the size and intrusiveness of government is the best way to promote individual productivity and prosperity for all Americans.

Not one word about eliminating government programs or agencies for which the federal government has no authority to create – EPA, Education, FDA, TSA, Homeland Security, FBI, etc. Yes, I wrote FBI. Find me the authority for pursuing criminals in the Constitution as a federal function. The States retained this authority via the 10th Amendment.

BFD – even Tom Leppert and Lance Gooden signed the pledge. Tom Leppert is NO conservative (Dallas’ OMNI Hotel) and Lance Gooden has perfected his juggling of the financial books of the state to where he now qualifies as a clown for the circus. To these people, signing a pledge is meaningless and certainly no indicator of what they believe.

I agree, Kaliche Kid: “…to these people, signing a pledge is meaningless… no indicator for what they believe”. Looking at their past records/votes will tell us more: AFP and Dewhurst? Not quite….
