Hispanic Republicans of Texas to Launch Effort Assisting Hispanic Candidates in Texas

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – With Hispanics representing 37% of the population of Texas, 40% of total students in public schools and 50% of the population growth, only a fraction are elected officials. With numbers comes a lot of power.   As it stands today, Hispanic leaders are disproportionately under-represented as elected officeholders especially as Republicans. Hispanic Republicans of Texas has been established to close the gap, build leadership within the Hispanic community and support those who are ready to serve as elected leaders of this state.

It’s our responsibility to help other Hispanics. But most important it’s our responsibility to serve the greatest state in our nation – Texas.

WHEN:   Tuesday, July 20, 2010
11:00 to 11:30 AM
Reception to follow

WHERE:   The Republican Party of Texas Headquarters
1108 Lavaca, Austin, TX 78701 / 210-421-4536

WHY:    Co-founders George P. Bush, George Antuna Jr. and Juan Hernandez established the HRT as an organization that will recruit, elect, support and defend Republican officeholders and candidates for state and local elected offices.

ANY real Conservative Christian American of Hispanic origin DOES NOT need a SPECIAL HISPANIC REPUBLICAN ORGANIZATION.
THIS is what is DESTROYING AMERICA……………… MULTICULTURALISM
I Think the BUSH’S have done quite enough to screw up the party of REGAN………………….every-time they rear their UGLY head the party become more LIBERAL.
NO THANK YOU.
As I said before any CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN with those values DOES NOT NEED HISPANIC in front of Republican to be ELECTED.

I agree with CW, that we do not need the Hispanic prefix, nor Asian, nor African, or any other. I differ inso much that I welcome Christians and non-Christians. My main qualifier is HOW CONSERVATIVE are you?

I think any Bush name does not need to be tied to anything. It has now become a symbol of the ANTI-Reagan wing of the party.

Hispanic?

What needs to occur in Texas, is a huge re-education of what someone of “Hispanic” origin even is here in Texas.

There is a BIG difference, in someone with brown skin from Mexico and someone with brown skin who is from TEXAS.

Technically, the “Tejano” IS the original Texan!

We need to totally redefine and change the paradigm of thought process amongst the TRUE “Tejano”.

Their families have been here for over 100 years and are NOT “from Mexico”, and therefore have NOTHING in common with the citizens of Mexico.

THAT is what needs to be differentiated and TAUGHT in our schools and an entire REBIRTH of the Tejano understanding.

Technically, a “Tejano” is it’s own seperate identity anyway, APART from being “Mexicans”, for they are NOT. (of course many/most do not understand this themselves, is why “some” misdirect loyalty and a sense of “brotherhood” with brown skined people in Mexico that have NOTHING to do with them. THIS is what has to be changed as well as a political ideological understanding. A CULTURAL one!!)

PROUD to be Texans! Proud to serve in our military, fight for OUR flag as they have since 1835, standing AGAINST MEXICO!!!!

Do you see where this is going?

Psychologically, they need to understand they are ONE OF US, and they are NOT tied to Mexico or the people of Mexico, or the culture of Mexico. They have their OWN identity.

They are ONE OF US, “Texans” and NOTHING of or from Mexico!

THIS is a key issue I believe in seperating out the flawed thought process that all “brown skin” people must be aligned with Mexico and all lumped together as “hispanics”.

THEN, the “brown skined” fellow Texas/Tejano patriots will stand with us!

The “marketing campaign” needs to be tied to this concept. That there IS no difference, they/we are all ONE. TEXANS!!!!!

To many, they FIRST need to understand they are NOT “Mexicans”.

TS expressed the situation perfectly.

I have a friend who was recently emailed an invitation to an Hispanic Republican event. She fired back expressing TS’s logic.

“With Hispanics representing 37% of the population of Texas, 40% of total students in public schools and 50% of the population growth, only a fraction are elected officials.”

Simple answer – those here illegally are not eligible to run for office. Secure the border.

If they want to be Hispanic, Mexican or any thing else besides Texan and American ,go back across the Rio Grande or however they got here. If you are going to live in Texas or the USA, then speak Texan or English. Forget “push 1 for English or 2 for Mexican”. If you don’t speak English,or learn how or leave.

Truthsquad I’ve said what you espoused many times on this blog. The battle we face in Texas regarding those that are called “Hispanics, Latinos, Tejanos or Mexican-Americans is over the mind and mindset. The liberal left-wingers have tried in a systematic way to infect the above mentioned Texans with their poison hoping that those Texans won’t research their true heritage. It all goes back to Austin’s land grant that was issued by Mexico to settle the Texas Gulf Coast area and part of central Texas. The composition of people were the above mentioned Texans as well as Anglo-American settlers from the United States.

I disagree on the original Texans. The Karankawa Indians were the original Texans but they eventually became extinct. I just read a couple of articles about the Karankawa Indians. Here’s a link to all who might be interested to read about the first Texans. http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/KK/bmk5.html

We have some excellent “Hispanic” Republican candidates in Nueces County…educated, accomplished, & conservative. I’m blockwalking for one of them this weekend (I’m not even in his district.)

I wonder if their self-identification as “Hispanic Republicans” is driven by the need for a “comfort” zone? (We can all identify with this.) Since their entry into the Republican ranks has been fairly recent (here, anyway,) there may be a need for this. I do sometimes sense a modest level of discomfort at general meetings.

Anyway, I plan to attend their next local meeting and try to get to the bottom of this. If you wish, I’ll report back.

I don’t know who George P. Bush and George Antuna, Jr are. I do know who Juan Herandez is and I wouldn’t trust him for split second.

I think when Hispanic people learn what conservativism is and they are invited to participate in politics as conserviatives they will freely do so. They do not need to be labeled “Hispanic-Republicans or anything else. They ARE and should be treated simply as citizens of the USA.

Congratulations to those who founded this group and are willing to confront the views of most who posted responses here. I wonder if they are as opposed to the SPJST, Sons of Italy, and so many other groups which serve to reflect ethnic origins or if it is only Hispanic-identification groups that they oppose. Do they not understand that individuals can have pride in ethnic identity and still be proud Americans? Among the many reasons that make the United States a “City on a Hill” is its welcoming nature to individuals from all ethnicities and continents. How do we expect more Hispanics to overcome their Democratic history and support Republicans when such ethnocentric views are expressed such as those posting in response to this announcement? We must be the Republican Party and not the White (or Anglo) Christian Party. Those who wish such purity should form their own party.

Wayne ~ We are not discussing an “ethnic society” here. The issue at hand is that of a potential splinter faction of one of the two major political parties.

I don’t refer to Italian-American Republicans, et al. Do you? We’re all Republicans, and conservative Republicans had better ride the same horse, or we’ll all be rendered impotent.

As you may note from my post above, I am supporting and working for some very excellent “Hispanic” conservative Republican candidates here in Nueces County. I am saddened, though, by the ethnic identifier. (I think of them as excellent people and candidates.) I do plan to learn the reasoning behind this exclusionary self-identification of a group of Republicans.

hmmm…this Juan Hernandez joker seems “questionable” and what in the world does he have to do with Texas? I dont trust a Bush anymore to have good true “conservative” motives at heart either. Their version of conservative, ESPECIALLY on immigration issues is NOT what my definition would be!

Juan Hernandez has but one agenda…AMNESTY…

truthbeknown

First we all had better recognize the fact that there are Republican and Democrats alike that are
definetly for amnesty. The question I want answered is why? Our unemployment is at 9.5 and will probably rise above that in the near future. Our elected officials both Natianal State and Local need
to put into place the Federal Law and Deport all of them like FDR did at the end of WW11. There needs to be a TEMPORARY STOP PUT ON ALL ENTRY INTO THE USA for Citizenship and VISA WORKERS until ICE has been AUDITED. ICE has “lost” a lot of foriegn nationals that have simply overstayed their visas, including students.
Anyone here that overstays their Visa needs to be sent back to where ever they came from, including the Aunt of the current resident in the Whitehouse !.
As far as the Hispanic Republican Texans ( I always thought HRT stood for Hormone Replacement therapy) I certainly think this is a BIG BAD MISTAKE. The first thing Republicans can do is to VET all candidates for LEGAL CITIZENSHIP and I don’t mean DUAL CITIZENSHIP EITHER ! We have too many DUAL CITIZENSHIP people serving in too many Security areas now, yes even Congress and even the high seat of President. EVERY STATE should make sure that ANY CANDIDATE that appears on their ballot is a United States Citizen and NOT a DUAL CITIZEN ! BEWARE OF A WOLF IN SHEEPS CLOTHING ! Just look what we got in 2008.
The same thing has happened in TEXAS we are left with voting for the lesser of two evils between Bill White and Gov. Perry. I certainly will not vote for Bill White.

I do agree with identifying the Tejano’s that have been here all their life and never lived in Mexico , but you can identify them easily by the way they talk. I think everyone that speaks Spanish in public should be arrested. No dual language ballots, No press 1 for English, NO instructions for anything sold in the US in any language but ENGLISH, NO teaching Spanish as a second language in grades
below High School and only thren as an Elective !
