Conservative Texas Legislators Band Together to Start New Organization, Put People Before Party

Pledges to 5 core principals and to unite conservatives

AUSTIN – On the eve of the “Tea Party” movement’s anniversary, conservative legislators in Texas have banded together to form a new organization – the Independent Conservative Republicans of Texas.  With conservative voters organizing like never before to protest the unprecedented overreaching intrusion of the federal government, voters need to know there are Republican legislators who share their beliefs and will uphold their principals.

The group was founded on five core principles each member has committed to uphold:

• Stand for conservative principals and to put people before Party.
• Fiscally accountable, limit the size of government, and fight for free market principles.
• Protect our borders and to support a strong military.
• Protect life, support strong family values, and uphold the Judeo-Christian beliefs our nation was founded upon.
• Honor the Constitution and protect the sovereign rights of Texas.

“We are all proud members of the Republican Party and will remain so.  However, this organization provides us with accountability outside of our political party,” the group’s founder Sen. Dan Patrick (R-Houston) remarked.  “We recognize we are first and foremost accountable to the people who elected us.  We have dedicated ourselves to these core principals and have said ‘this is who we are and this is how we will legislate,’” Sen. Patrick concluded.

“We’re joining together to say test us, try us, hold us accountable.  We mean it when we pledge to defend limited government, individual liberties and free enterprise,” remarked Rep. Phil King (R-Weatherford).

“The voters placed their trust in us because we share their values and priorities, and we have a responsibility to govern according to those principles,” Sen. Jane Nelson (R-Lewisville) added.

“With increased awareness of the citizens expressing their desire to be involved, it is exciting to be a part of this movement to accept the challenge of bringing our state and nation back to the conservative, godly heritage of our founding fathers,” Rep. Dan Flynn (R-Van) offered.

“Dedication to America’s founding principles, through our commitment to civic awareness and responsibility, is what the Independent Conservative Republicans will follow as our course of action,” Sen. Florence Shapiro (R-Plano) observed.

“The Tenth Amendment is the foundation of the Constitution.”
- Thomas Jefferson

Dan Patrick is really just growing his influence–and his bully pulpit–with the Independent Conservative Republicans of Texas. There is nothing independent or conservative about Dan Patrick, only what he claims about himself. http://hubpages.com/hub/Independent-Conservative-Republicans-Nothing-Independent-or-Conservative-About-These-Texas-Republicans

We do have some good Representatives from Texas! We need to start voting for only those politicians that we know WILL put the people before the party and not their own self interests! Those on CW’s list are excellent examples! Any others we might want to consider, we should do a lot of research on and make sure they meet up to what we want representing us not only in Texas but D.C. as well!

What a hypocrite, Dan trashed on Debra and Kay while he supported Perry and now Dan is concerned about what the people want? He blindly supports the established Republican leaders in Texas, his best friend Bentencourt crapped on the voters of Harris County and Dan really believes he has some credibility left with people??

What this piece didn’t say is that the audience walked out on the coalition after it made things abundantly clear that there would be NO special Session, no passage of HCR 50, NO nullification and that most of its members don’t think the 10th Amendment could stand up.
The Republican Party has sold out Texas in its thirst for “power.” It has misjudged the people of Texas only slightly less than have the Democrats.
If Obamacare gets instituted and the state does nothing, if Cap and Trade passes and they do nothing, if Amnesty is granted and the Legislature does nothing — the Los Angeles riots of 1992 will look like a minor scuffle. People are fighting mad, and this betrayal by the party they thought was on their side will push a lot of people over the edge.

Al: It can be hard to defend Kay Bailey Hutchison, as she defied Senate Republican leadership to end the filibuster they had going on the defense appropriation bill before Christmas – their goal was to kill time so the DimocRATs wouldn’t have time to pass Obamacare before Christmas, and have to go home to mad constituents. Snowe and Collins followed her lead on this. Well, Scott Brown’s election very well may have killed the Senate’s Obamacare fiasco. Makes me nauseous to listen to her rant about Obamacare when she was instrumental in its passing.

Dan is good, but he also has the buddy up to establishment thing going on too many times. He was much more “go get them bad Republicans” BEFORE he was a Senator.

He still has his “alliances” with others and a network of friends of his friends that he backs sometimes in races he shouldn’t!

The Harris Co. Party chair races is one point in case. He is going along with the tired old mantra of “well, it’s best for the party if we don’t upset anything and keep things like they are for right now” in backing the incumbent party chair.

Ummm..hello Dan, but when then WOULD a good time be to EVER replace a chair?

But, because of your friendship and relationships with “others” who DO back him, this to me is a more personal decision than one of Jared Woodfil served his purpose and really needs to go now.
It’s more about certain people keeping power more than anything. Dan is being sucked into it and going along with it.

So yes, I am sure many people who will be apart of this “new group”, are and will be some of the same old party hacks that protect their own, and some of the same old “good ole boys” that prop up and keep “their own” in power, when many times..if they are TRULY honest, some of those people really need to go.

Again, love Dan, but sometimes he too can STILL hook his cart to some of the horses we need to PUT TO PASTURE!!!!

Dan, the Harris co party will be FINE without Woodfill who REALLY needs to focus on his law practice and STOP trying to juggle both, which he obviously hasn’t the proper time to do either well.

Now IS the time to change leadership. If Ed does a bad job, the Exec Com. will still be there to make sure things run properly, or down there in Harris co. they can kick Ed out too in just 2 years.

Why not just make the executive director guy there the party chair anyway, since I hear HE is “really” doing the job of party chair, making Woodfill look good.
