What’s the Real Message Sent by Recent Elections?
By Bill Burch
Chairman of GRIT (the Grass Roots Institute of Texas)

To understand what is going on, you must understand the various types of ideologies, the way the Parties function in New York, the realities of the two major parties, and the current mindset of the Tea Party and 9-12 Project movements. Upon understanding these and the spin they each put out, you can then reach a conclusion of where politics are in America today. Due to space constraints, these definitions will be brief.
Ideology Definitions
First let’s look at Conservatives. The broadest of these is the Ronald Reagan Conservatism. This brand believes in individual rights and freedoms, lower taxes, a strong military, smaller government, and has a strong belief in the abilities of Americans and America.
Next you have the Ron Paul Conservatives. These Conservatives have a strong belief in strict adherence to the Constitution and following the rules, whether they are the Constitution, laws, or Party Rules. Those with a more Libertarian vein believe that the government should stay out of social issues altogether. The difficulties in sticking to that view are the laws regarding murder and rape as well as other social issue laws of that nature.
Now let’s look at the Pat Robertson Conservatives. These Conservatives are Christians who have little tolerance for anyone who has beliefs other than theirs. They are generally born again evangelicals whose interests are mainly social in nature.
Now there is cross pollination of Conservatives, and some even steer to the left on certain issues. Conservatives usually vote Republican, but will be found in several other parties also.
Second are the Moderates. These are simply people who try to work with all sides to find a common ground for an issue or idea. The moderates rarely have ideas of their own and rarely support any Party philosophy, although they will run for office in the Party that is in the majority in their area.
Liberalism is another simple philosophy to understand. Liberals, like Reagan Conservatives, also believe in the rights of individuals, but believe that government should take an active role in guaranteeing and, at times, delivering these rights. Interestingly, the liberal “Rockefeller Republicans” controlled the Republican Party until 1980 and still exercise a great deal of influence in the Republican Party in some states (mainly the Northeast). The majority of liberals are lodged nationally in the Democratic Party.
Finally there is Socialism. Socialism is historically the response of the people to hereditary aristocracy in Europe. Socialism is in its basic form an economic model that focuses on the needs of society as a whole rather than on the individual. As such, it is the anti-thesis of Capitalism.
Marxist can be simply defined as a “pre-communist” phase of government. In Wikipedia it states “In order to overcome the fetters of private property the working class must seize political power internationally through a social revolution and expropriate the capitalist classes around the world and place the productive capacities of society into collective ownership. Upon this material foundation classes would be abolished and the material basis for all forms of inequality between humankind would dissolve.”
Communism can simply be defined as “from each according to his abilities and to each according to his need” Communist believe that for true success, the entire world must be changed to their form of government. Thus a single country should exist only as part of a greater, all controlling, government or world order.
Fascism seeks a Nationalist form of Socialism as opposed to Communism.
European Socialism is another form of Socialism that pushes for control of industry by the workers rather than management.
All forms of Socialism have a common thread running through it. They simply believe that all people should contribute to the good of the whole. With Socialism, you find rationing of healthcare, loss of production incentives, a leveling out of incomes, and a down grading of life styles. The reason is that anything considered a drain on society (the elderly) or an excess (better than average living conditions) should be controlled. Socialism is the viewpoint of the vast majority of the Democratic Parties leadership today.
Party Leadership Peculiarities
Each state has its own rules with certain aspects covered by state law. Rather than go into detail in this limited space, I’ll give you certain basic information and show a contrast with the Texas Republican Party.
In New York, the Rockefeller Republicans have managed to stay in control of their Party despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of New York Republicans are Conservatives of one type or another. The County Chairs are elected by the Republican County Committee members (who are appointed by the County Chair). These positions are largely made up of Rockefeller Liberal Republicans. It’s a system that keeps the Conservatives out of leadership positions. For the Special Election, the County Chairs get together and elect the Party Nominee. This is why, when a special election was needed to replace the Congressman in the 23rd District, they selected a like minded candidate. However, since the Republican voters in New York are largely Conservative, it is probable that a Conservative will be nominated in the 2010 Primary election.
In Texas, the Robertson Republicans came into being with the Christian Coalition in 1989. They reached their peak in 1996 and exercised tight control over the selection of delegates and Party leaders. Although the Christian Coalition still exists is a much smaller form, its ideas continue to enjoy a large following in Texas. Today, most Texas voters who vote Republican tend to be Reagan Conservatives; the Party leadership is largely Robertson Republicans.
In 1972, the supporters of Liberal George McGovern began to remake the Democratic Party into a Liberal controlled Party. This successful remake resulted in the move of Conservatives to the Republican Party. Ronald Reagan, a former Democrat himself) was a particularly strong draw for the disenfranchised Conservatives who liked Reagan’s Conservative beliefs and welcoming “big tent philosophy”. Others, however, watched what McGovern did with interest and saw a way to move the Democratic Party to Socialism. Like the Republicans in New York and Texas where the leaders don’t emulate the base, the Socialist took control of the Democratic Party on a national basis. Their use of strong arm tactics prevents Democratic Officeholders from voting any way but their way. Their favorite form of Socialism appears to be Marxism at this time.
To be thorough, we must look at the Tea’s Party and 9-12 Projects leadership position. For simplicity sake, I will refer to these groups as the Tea Party. They are made of people who call themselves Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Independents, and others. One of the main ideas within the groups is the idea of individual freedom and less government. The groups prefer to not get too involved with individual candidates, though they did with Hoffmann in the 23rd Congressional race in New York. Most are new to politics and don’t have an understanding of political influence, thus they have very little at this time. However, if and when they develop this understanding, considering their large numbers, they could become a powerful force that could change the political face of America.
The Real Message of the Election Results of November 2009
America, as a whole, votes based upon their perception of what’s happening in Washington in regards to their pocket books. Social issues are important, but nothing gets a voter to the polls like money issues. The voters don’t necessarily look at the President, but rather the Party in charge. What they hear is that the Democrats are taking money from their pockets. Voters don’t necessarily know who is on the ballot, or which Party someone is with. In fact, in New York a candidate can appear on the ballot as being the Nominee from more than one Party (which is how Hoffmann, a registered Republican, got on the ballot as a Conservative Party Candidate.
Most voters want to vote for candidates in all the races, even though they don’t know the candidates. In Special Elections, like in New York, far fewer, but slightly more knowledgeable voters show up. New Jersey and Virginia voters voted for the Republicans because of the distaste for what is happening in Washington. It was not because of distaste for President Obama, but the policies of the Democratic leadership. In short, it was a rejection of Marist Socialism. This distaste is nation-wide and could reflect a shift of as much as twenty percent of the voters. This means that the potential exists for any Democrat who received less than seventy percent of the votes to be defeated. We saw the reverse of this in Dallas County last year.
The 23rd Congressional District sends the biggest message and warnings. First, the Tea Party’s spin was that they were successful because they were able to run the Republican out of the race. The real world is that you are successful if your candidate wins the election. If they wanted a Conservative to win, they needed to make sure that a Conservative was the Republican Party nominee. Minor Party candidates rarely win elections. Now, instead of a Liberal Republican we have a Marxist Democrat. If you want Conservatives, you must elect them in the Republican Primary. After the Primary, your choice is between a Marxist Democrat and a Something Republican. Since Republicans believe in freedom, regardless of whether they are liberal, moderate, or conservative, it is best to vote straight ticket than to vote for the individual in a General Election. Further, the election of the Democrat does not show that people like what the Democrats are doing. It only adds more proof to what I’ve said in the past, “if it weren’t for the Republicans, Republicans would win”.
There are pockets of liberal Rockefeller Republicans holdouts, the overwhelming majority of Republicans are Conservative. Some misguided Republicans have voiced a desire for a return to Rockefeller Liberalism, but the nation continues to grow more Conservative. The Obama message of “Change” was misunderstood by voters to mean a change from where we were at the time, not a transformation to a different way of life.
About a third of Democrats identify themselves as Socialist and are led by Marxist leaders. The trend among Democrats is solidly towards Marxist Socialism. As a final thought, now that you know that, regardless of what a Democratic candidate may say they are, if you vote for a Democrat then you are voting for a Marxist. If you knowingly vote for a Marxist, then does that make you a Marxist?
It’s important to be involved in the Republican Primary to get the best candidate nominated. But to keep Texas and America free, you must vote straight Republican in the General Election in 2010.

HERE we go again…………………………………….YOU HAVE TO VOTE STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN.
How anyone can represent themselves as GRASSROOTS and preach this kind of CRAP.
The politician spectrum runs from radicals to reactionaries anyone naive enough to try and label individuals in our country does NOT understand what is happening NOW.
We have an awaking the likes of which are more reminiscent of the Hungarians that attack Russian tanks with Molotov cocktails and bare hands than party politics.
The RAGE and FRUSTRATION transcends any political party ………………………………THE CURRENT REPUBLICAN NO MORE REPRESENTS LIBERTY as defined by our revolution in 1776……………………………………………if republicans wish to be elected they need to come clean and confess their faults and lay out an enforceable contract for their immediate dismissal if the break the promises necessary to regain the TRUST of the AMERICAN people.
BILL you JUST do NOT get it.

CW, I just don’t think you get it. You’re taking that tired old stand that has pulled the rug out from under the feet of freedom loving people throughout America. Because of the Democrats tight control, you have a choice in the GENERAL ELECTION., vote for the Marxist Democrat, don’t vote and, thus, help the Marxist Democrat if you would normally vote Republican, or vote for the Freedom loving Republicans.
If you want a change in the Republican candidate, by all means, run for office or support a conservative for the position.
You obviously don’t have the intellegence or wisdom to know what you’re talking about. It’s not about supporting Republicans as much as its about stopping the take over of our country by the Marxist. Doing as you suggest rather than as I and the author suggest is to support Marxist. I really hope that you are not a Marxist. And if not, OPEN YOUR EYES AND THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE SAYING.

CW, it’s people like you who gave us Obama in the first place. All you want to do is jump up and down and scream to no end. With your attitude, you just screw things up. Why not listen to Bill Burch. He seems to know what he’s talking about. Your ideas are just worthless and are not solutions to anything.

Are any of you really familiar with CW? He is a true patriot and a man with srong priniciples! He says what he means and means what he says….and if he ran for any office, I would without a second thought give him my financial support and my vote….regardless of the party….I would be voting for the man! He has done more in the past months of this President’s destruction, bankrupting, and attempted government take over of everything including our freedoms! I know CW has spent hours on the phone, emailing and writing those scumbags in DC attempting to get them to vote NO on these horrendous bills (Healthcare and Cap and Trade) than most people, and I would go so far as to say, even many of the Representatives and Senators! He has offered a huge amount of very helpful information to help everyone on this site become aware of what is going on! He is not only worth listening to what he has to say, but also to seriously considering the information he offers! I want to thank CW for all the helpful comments and information he has offered to all of us on this site! When we vote, we should vote for strong conservatives who come closest to our ideals and expectations! We do not want the corrupt politics that are going on in Washington at present!

SJK you also don’t seem to understand. Unless you have the influence to talk to a legislator, your efforts are of little value. True, a quantity of e-mails and letters to a legislator has an impact. But, in looking at the Health Care votes, not much. The only Legislators who seemed to get it were the Republicans. So, if you follow CW’s thinking, let’s throw the baby out with the bath water. Not a wise thing to do. Or, let’s see, we could all just stay home after screaming in the streets, this way we can let the Marxist complete their takeover. At least we did’t have to go vote for those freedom loving Republicans.
You two need to sit down and think about what you’re saying and the results you are obtaining. If you don’t win, guess what, you lose. If you want to win, support Conservative Republicans in the Primary and then support ALL Republicans in the General election. Otherwise you are supporting a Marxist. Wise up.

I understand the frustration of CW and SJK. Often, I am frustrated because of Republicans not being as conservative as I am and certainly not as conservative as CW and SJK!
Let me digress to my very early childhood. I was raised in a Democrat household. My father said he would vote for a monkey if the monkey was running as a Democrat. This was the mentality in the 50’s. Of course, I questioned often. When I turned 18, I registered to vote by paying my $1.00 poll tax and stating the party I was registering in (yes that was the way it was done in 1957) which was Republican. There was no such thing as a Republican Primary because the party had not had enough people who could pass up voting in the Democrat primary for Republicans to have a primary. I remember coming home and my parents asked to see my voters registration. I pulled it out of my pocket and handed it to my father. He didn’t say anything and handed it to my mother. She just about died laughing! She said her vote cancelled out my vote. All my college friends kidded me and tried to entice me to vote in the Democrat primary. I stuck to my guns! Voted in the General election as a Republican. And of course there were some very good conservative people running as Democrats and no Republican running against them. I did what any young naive person would do. I voted for the “best” candidate. Of course the Democrats won because all the time the are advocating vote for the “best” candidate they were voting straight ticket Democrat. It took me several years to figure out I had to vote straight Republican ticket in the General election but had to vote in every Primary for the best conservative ticket. Some times the conservative person won and sometimes they did not. But overall we had some odd candidates. I don’t know what happened in the intervening years.
I think a lot of people gave up and no longer voted for the straight Republican ticket in the General election and that is how we got Obama! McCain was not my choice for President. But I damn sure was not going to not vote and let Obama win by default. I held my nose and voted for McCain-Palin (mostly because of Palin). Hey, if you voted for Obama you deserve everything you and I are going to get. If you did not vote for either, you actually contributed to Obama’s win and our Marxist government.
Merge your two positions and you get the best of both worlds! CW and SJK have been doing yeoman work. Do not belittle it. It does count. It changes minds of some of the weak people who try to stay elected. Support a CONSERVATIVE in the Primary but don;t pick up your marbles and go home when the General election comes around. Vote the straight Republican ticket so we can get the Democrats out.
Do not even think a bad that a bad Republican can be voted out of office after being elected. We did just that when we elected a really bad person to the Supreme Court.
Now is the important time. Find out all the candidates running against a Democrat in the up coming Primary and get behind one of the Republicans and help that person to win. How about knocking out a Sheila Jackson-Lee, or Gene Green, or Al Green. It can be done with your help.
We can only work the election of the best Republican running against a Democrat. Maybe that person is not as strong in their ideals as you and I. So you would rather have the Democrat. Get real!
I was devasted when Sen Goldwater only got 6 million votes against Lyndon Johnson! But that lead to the greatest President I ever had the honor to vote for Ronald Reagan!
Just think we may now get another Ronald Reagan in the next election. Primary! Primary! Primary! Vote in General election for the Republican candidate! Do you get it?

Yeah I’m a MARXIST because instead of sitting on my hands or holding my NOSE ………….I challenge the Republican party to REPRESENT the people that elect them instead of the ONES that buy them.
Which lobbyist do you work for?
While I support Chris Simcox in AZ, Marco Rubio in FL, Doug Hoffman in NY and countless others that are just starting to get things up and running in ND,MN,and New Mexico?
BTW:
I did not get OBAMA elected the lame @$$ Republican Party did because they allowed the left to pick their candidate and then allowed him to give away an election that could have been won.
As for SJK and I while YOU sideliners have been warming the bench we have been in the fight everyday………………………read the ARCHIVES.

WOW…I was worried there for a minute if CW was going to answer you all! If any of you have been following the TexasInsider daily….you would know where CW and SJK stand in the political realm. I have learned a lot from both, CW and SJK. He, CW has been a wealth of information to all of us. He answers nearly every article and tells us his reasons for thinking the way he does. He post sites for us to go to get our own answers or to back up his statements. Now all of us are big Boys and Girls and can either agree to agree or agree to disagree…but never bum someone out for being as Patriotic as CW is….you might try reading all of the Articles that are posted on the TexasInsider before making an opinion of a person that is giving their all to WAKE people up! Thanks for all of your opinions and views. I love good discussions!

C W Jensen has a good idea: read the archives. But who has the time?
A better idea (which perhaps can be implemented by the web site manager) would be to affix a hot link to every commentators Name so that curious readers could go to an indexed page containing each and every comment made by that person.

JED thanks for the kind words……………………………………………..the most important thing I learned in life is EVERYONE has something to TEACH you.
Many times they TEACH you what NOT to do…………………………….BUT you have still learned a VALUABLE lesson.
In the early 70’s we moved to Northern Minnesota and a particularly crusty old jackpine savage took us under his wing. He would often stop me in mid sentence and say YOU are NOT listening while your lips are moving.
I will NEVER forget his WISDOM.
BTW
If I do NOT stay in the FIGHT for the next several days…………………………….our youngest son finally left the ARMY and is getting married …………………………………….
I leave things in the capable hands of those of you that realize CHANGE for the better is EARNED
NOT GIVEN to you by any political party.

I would add this comment to Bill Burch’s article:
Socialism nearly always destroys the middle-class. By necessity, it needs a ruling class (the central planners) and the working class (dependents).
If you are a freedom-loving person and solidly in the middle-class in America, you could not knowingly (and with good conscience) vote for a Socialist of Democratic persuasion or one masquerading as a Republican.
I recommend the writings of John T. Flynn to anyone interested in knowing how we got ourselves in the position we are in: on the verge of fundamental change from capitalistic freedom to whatever Obama’s end game is.

I think Bill shows the kind of breadth that builders of the Republican Party need to buy into. What Bill does not say is more important to me. The issue that I see is what does each faction see as the answer to the following problems: Rebuilding the U S economy, establishing a solid currency, reconstituting the Federal Reserve and the banking system, and building a sound framework for the control of investment outlets. Bill does a good job of inventorying the ideological components of republicanism, but ignores whether any will make a difference in how a dynamic economy is restored.

CW & SJK, I stand with you 100%. I have saved every issue of the insider for some time now and did so because of your comments. I agree strongly with you both. I believe you are well versed in these issues and follow you through this publication because I do believe you know what you are talking about. You may be misunderstood but I agree that having to choose between the lesser of the two evils is not going to work anymore. I’ll illustrate my meaning with our local politics in my hometown.
We have several demon crats who are switching parties because they know running as a demon crat will surely cost them the election. The republican party leaders are willing to do this and endorse them as republicans. Though they are running as republicans, are they not still demon crats? Look at New York district 23 and their republicrat runner. Need I say more. People, it is time to get it right and choose the right candidate and not the lesser of two evils as the lesser is still evil.
CW and SJK, Keep on keeping on as you motivate those of us who are at whits end and wake and inspire those who are likely to do nothing.

I have read the comments and find it interesting how fast people got away from the article and how badly some read it. To help you understand, here is a little story.
In 1821 the Mexicans won their independence from Spain. By 1824 they had adopted a Constitution granting strong States Rights and individual rights and freedoms. By 1835, the Constitution of the Mexican States was revoked by President Santa Anna. Texians and other Federalist began immediately demanding a return to the Constitution. The initial hostilities in 1835 were to support this demand.
During the siege and battle of the Alamo, the flag that flew above the Alamo was emblazoned with 1824 as a defiant demand for a return to the Constitution of 1824. The Alamo fell to the forces of Santa Anna on March 5, 1836. During the siege, on March 2, 1836, the Delegates to the Texas Convention issued a Declaration of Independence. On April 21, 1836 Texas won her independence.
Today we Texans, as well as patriots across America, are demanding a return to our Constitution. Almost from the beginning, the Constitution has been under attack by politicians. These attacks have come from politicians from all Parties. So who’s to blame? The blame lies squarely with those people who have not set aside the time to vote, to learn about the candidates, and to run or support the Candidates who truly believe in our Constitution.
You see, it’s not the Parties; it’s the people who have allowed the Parties and the Office Holders to stray. I have been active since 1979. Since 2004 I have been warning people that Republicans had strayed away from our Conservative principles and were losing voters as a result. Since last year I have warned that the Democratic Party had been taken over by Marxist.
If you have a liberal who believes in freedom running against a Marxist who wants to take away your rights and freedoms, what do you do? You vote for the liberal if you’re wise. Right now we must all work to find and support Conservatives to run in the Primaries. Since all Republicans believe in freedom and all Democrats vote the way their Party leaders tell them to vote, they are Marxist. So if your Conservative loses in the Republican Primary, You vote for whichever Republican is remaining over the Marxist Democrat. If you do not do this (even if you skip voting), then you are simply voting for the Marxist.
In these battles, we need all hands on deck. This includes liberal Democrats, Libertarians, and Conservative Republicans. Where there are gaps in our battle lines, fill them with whatever warrior you can find or we will lose this war. And if we lose this war, Texas and the United States will fall. CW and SJK, please continue your effort in this war, but don’t attack me or others who are also engaged in this war for freedom. Know who your enemy is. We all have our ways to fight in this war. Attack the Marxist and help our side.
Please, may God continue to bless Texas and my the United States of America.
