Commissioner Jones Proposes Letter Against Cap and Trade

Railroad Commissioner warns Washington of economic dangers of proposed legislation

elizabeth-ames-jonesAUSTIN, TEXAS– Texas Railroad Commissioner Elizabeth Ames Jones proposed and passed a Position Letter at the Railroad Commission Conference opposing the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, also known as the Cap and Trade bill.  The letter was supported and signed by the other two Commissioners.

“It is important that we as a Commission have a unified position on this crucial issue,” said Commissioner Jones.  “Texas, which is the leading energy producing state in the nation, stands to be adversely effected by this legislation.  Not only will the energy industry be negatively effected, but also Texans will see their energy bills increase dramatically.  A new report by the Texas Comptroller shows that if the Cap and Trade legislation were in effect today, Texans would be spending an additional $1100 on goods and services next year.”

The Cap and Trade legislation passed the U.S. House of Representatives last week and now will be taken up by the U.S. Senate.  The letter, which can be found here, will be sent to Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson and Senator John Cornyn.

“Senators Hutchison and Cornyn care very much about the people of Texas and have both indicated they will oppose the measure in the Senate,” said Jones.  “However, I believe it is critical for the nation’s top state energy regulatory body to be on record opposing this legislation.”

Elizabeth Ames Jones was elected three times to the Texas House of Representatives before her appointment in 2005 to the Texas Railroad Commission.  In November 2006, she was elected to serve a six-year term. She served as Chairman from 2005-2007 and is a recognized leader on energy policy and coastal issues.  She serves on the Coastal Coordination Council, the Coastal Land Advisory Board, and is a member of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission.

If this bill passes in any form in the Senate, I want Governor Perry, Atty. General Abbott, and the entire legislature both the House and the Senate to sign a bill which nullifies the Cap and Tax bill and send it to Washington. I want them to say that the State of Texas will not abide by that death sentence to our economy. George Morovich went to San Marcos, Bastrop, Matindale, Gonzales, and Shiner over the 4th to talk with people and ask for their vote. He has never held any office, but he is a real conservative, and he is putting his time and money on the line to try to oust Doggett. If you know anyone at all in the 25th district, tell them about George. He will need a lot of help.

Perhaps the list that CW has made public will, indeed, have an effect on the next elections. I have wondered for years how some of those men and women ever got elected in the first place. Traitor is the correct word–they are TRAITORS to the State of Texas.

Shamefully, I reside in Lloyd Dogsh… I mean, Lloyd Doggett’s district here in The Glorious Heroic Peoples’ Revolutionary Soviet of Austin. Lloyd has never met a tax he didn’t love, nor a taxpayer that he didn’t despise.

As for the rest of the list, there’s not a single one that I would hire to clean up the dog poop in my backyard:
1. They would be unable to master the technology,
2. They could not handle the responsibility of the job.

Let’s face it: The federal government – and specifically the Congress: Both Wimpublicans and RATs – has squandered The Greatest Country In The History Of The World. Secession now, or our grandkids will be slaves in The New World Economy because of the insane spending, which shows no sing of ending…

They all need to be sent to China! They don’t deserve to live in this great country anymore! They should all be ashamed of what they have done to destroy this country and the people who put them in office! They are all traitors to their coustituents, and country!

Circa 1979 Lloyd Doggett was instrumental in forcing the funeral home industry in Texas to itemize pricing, because they were getting rich. The result of this was the funeral homes realized how much more money they could be making by this practice and, literally, overnight the price of a funeral in Texas doubled. This man is a menace to free society and needs to be sent home, wherever that is, and shouldn’t collect a penny in retirement from the Texas taxpayers, he’s cost us too much money already.

These men were all elected to serve the best interests of their constituencies. Voting on bills they have not read is not they were elected to do.

They have allowed Speaker Pelosi to effectively dictate the passage of laws and for this reason they should be recalled or impeached for incompetence.

We cannot allow the Democrats or anyone else to coerce legislation as was done on the phony stimulus bill if we are to have a functioning democratic government.

Why is no one raising the question of the legality of ramming laws through before they have been debated and the public has a chance to comment on them?

They are all performing acts of insanity and corruption in DC. They have no respect for the things that really matter and are important! That is why it is so easy for this dictator Presiddent to get all his evil and destructive bills passed! They all need to be thrown out NEVER to return. There needs to be term limits for all these morons including the President, and that amendment of the Constitution should be made permanent never to be able to be changed so NOBODY can or ever will be able to be a lifer again!

To all of you who are fed up with the power elites in both political parties you’re invited to join the Texas Chapter of the Constitution Party and help us lead the revolt against the North East political establishment and the wimpy Texas Democrats listed in Mr. Jensen’s comments. The Republican representatives from Texas also let us down when they had control of Congress and the Executive branch. They did nothing to control spending. They were like little kids in the candy store.

And most certainly Doggett needs to be kicked out of office.
