Of course, the government cannot "create" jobs with a wave of it's magical check-writing wand. What we got from our new president was a $787,000,000,000 Bailout. Not a single job was "created", unless you count the 16,000 new lifetime government jobs added to the annual federal budget. And jobs the White House claims as "saved" are more correctly only "postponed". When the bailout money is gone, so will the jobs. The only way these jobs could be considered "saved" is if they are permanently funded by taxpayer dollars. Was the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act a success? I don't think there is any question that it is nothing but a total and complete failure as an economic stimulus. It was, however, a very effective way of redistributing nearly a trillion dollars in entitlements without actually calling it what it is - welfare.
