“Not only is this administration unwilling to secure our southern border, but now we know that they will prevent states from protecting themselves.  I am disappointed that the federal government has forced Arizona between a rock and a hard place.  While the border is the federal government’s responsibility, it’s our problem.  The 2011 legislative session gives Texas a chance to lead and pass laws that protect our citizens and our economy.”

—  Dan Patrick, Republican State Senator from Houston commenting on today’s Arizon Immigration Law announcement

  1. Alicia
I did NOT see the TEXAS 2 RHINO’S signatures.
When a government chooses to selectively enforce laws ( which is now happening) we are in ANARCHY……………………………………..I hope you know how to defend yourself.
I really feel these fools DO NOT understand the consequences of their actions.
This makes them even more DANGEROUS because they are ROUGE.
North Korea and Iran are examples of what the US Government is becoming.

  2. Democrats Keep Door Open to Dangerous Lame Duck Session

Washington, Jul 29 – Republican Study Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after offering a resolution on the floor of the House of Representatives calling on Congress not to hold a lame duck session after Election Day for the purpose of passing hugely unpopular legislation like a national energy tax, enormous deficit spending bills, and the kickback to Big Labor known as “Card Check.”

“Americans are sick and tired of their elected leaders making backroom deals to ram through unpopular, 2000-page bills that no one has read,” said Chairman Price. “They are sick of out-of-touch politicians, and they are tired of being ignored. A number of Democrats, including members of their leadership, have recently expressed a desire to ignore the public will and use a lame duck session to pass liberal legislation Americans do not want. Today I gave my Democrat colleagues an opportunity to show they are finally ready to listen to the American people.

“Our system of government rests upon the consent of the governed, but it is quite clear that Democrats no longer have Americans’ consent. The public’s trust in this Congress has been repeatedly broken. Voting for a national energy tax and other items on the liberal wish list in a lame duck session would shatter it beyond repair. Republicans are fully prepared to do what is necessary to restore Americans’ trust in their elected representatives. We know it will be a long road, but it is one well worth traveling.”

Note: Instead of taking a clear stand on this issue, House Democrats chose to delay a vote on the Price resolution. The text of the resolution is available here.

  3. I just received the above stunner! Where in the heck were our Texas Senators????? They’ll probably argue they’re not on the proper committee to be involved in this letter. I don’t give a rat’s a$$ ! THIS IS VITAL TO TEXAS AND OUR COUNTRY!!! I could just scream!

I have been so feaful that the repulsive snake would pull a stunt like this and it appears he very well may.

If he does this before Nov. 2, he will not care that it would subsequently be ruled unconstitutional; his party hacks would retain power. He also would care not one whit about US. He’s already proven that. Our country is disintegrating before our eyes! I’m frantic about this!

    What can we do??????????

  4. After receiving no response from their first letter sent to the Obama Administration on June 21 regarding reports of an Executive Action mass amnesty, a group of 12 Senators, led by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), is again asking the Administration for answers. The Administration has not denied reports of a plan to provide a mass amnesty for the nation’s 11-18 million illegal aliens through deferred action and parole.

“The administration has yet to answer our letter about reports that it may be planning a large-scale, de facto amnesty program through deferred action and parole,” Sen. Grassley said in a press release. “By shedding a little light on the numbers, we’re working to get to the bottom of the administration’s plans. If it wants to claim that discretionary authority is being used on a case-by-case basis, then let’s determine if these cases are truly meritorious.”

Joining Sen. Grassley in signing the letter are Senators Thad Cochran (R-Miss.), Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.), Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), David Vitter (R-La.), Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Jim Bunning (R-Ky.), Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) and Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.).

  5. We all know that Perry is a moderate, not a true conservative. I voted for Medina. She has grit and will take on the Federal Government and the illegal problem. Hats off to Abbott and his suit against the EPA. Email him and give up some praise.

  6. Trapping Wild Pigs:

There was a chemistry professor in a large college
that had some exchange students in the class. One day
while the class was in the lab, the Prof noticed one
young man, an exchange student, who kept rubbing his
back and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter.
The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his
back. He had been shot while fighting communists in
his native country who were trying to overthrow his
country’s government and install a new communist

In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor
and asked a strange question. He asked:

“Do you know how to catch wild pigs?”

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the
punch line. The young man said that it was no joke.

“You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in
the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs
find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free
corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put
a fence down one side of the place where they are used
    to coming.

When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the
corn again and you put up another side of the fence.
They get used to that and start to eat again. You
continue until you have all four sides of the fence up
with a gate in the last side.

The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to
come through the gate to eat that free corn again.

You then slam the gate on them and catch the whole
herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom.
They run around and around inside the fence, but they
    are caught.

Soon they go back to eating the free corn . They are
so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage
in the woods for themselves, so they accept their

The young man then told the professor that is exactly
what he sees happening in America . The government
keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps
spreading the free corn out in the form of programs
such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned
income, tax cuts, tax exemptions, tobacco subsidies,
dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP),
welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continually
lose our freedoms, just a little at a time.

One should always remember two truths:

    1) There is no such thing as a free lunch

    2) and you can never hire someone to provide a service
for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

If you see that all of this wonderful government
‘help’ is a problem confronting the future of
democracy in America, you might want to send this on
    to your friends.

If you think the free ride is essential to your way of
life, then you will probably delete this email.

But God help you when the gate slams shut!

AMERICA ,The home of the Free

    Because of the Brave.

  7. Christian you are right about Perry being “marginal” on leadership and backboen! We have a real issue here! Texas can relate to Arizona because we have border control problems and influx of illegals and future terrorists coming through our borders everyday! In my area there ate shootings and close calls across that border of bullets hitting the county building in our city where there are many people and officials of our city who are working! Governor Perry has stated that what Arizona did was not “the right thing” for Texas! I say that is B.S.! An Immigration Reforrm Bill like Arizona’s is exactly “the right thing” for Texas! The laws for the border need to be enforced, and “ILLEGALS” who are breaking our laws b y coming here the way they do and taking advantage of all our systems, bringing drugs across the border, robbing, mugging, murdering, and threatening and kidnapping oucitizens is an outrage and MUST and SHOULD BE STOPPED! Governor Perry has shown that he is tucking his tail and hiding on this issue and taking the action that Arizona! ALL of America needs to stand with Arizona and take the same action they were brave enough to do! It is like when Goverhor Perry took a stnce against the Obama aministration when he rejected the stimulus money! That is the kind of leadership we need on thie issue of immigration in TEXAS! WE TEXANS MUST DEMAND AND EXPECT NO LESS!!!!!

  8. Ray C. well said! I read comments from bloggers at several different websites. Many bloggers are from other parts of the world. It’s amazing to hear different perspectives and many of the perspectives I hear are EXTREMELY LIBERAL. With that being said, many bloggers say, “What’s happening in Texas? We surely thought that Texans would be taking the lead on this issue.” Folks, people in the other states in the U.S. are looking to us for leadership. If you don’t believe me, then go blogging at other sites. Even people around the world will occasionally mention Texas. I believe that David Dewhurst and Greg Abbott are strong leaders in Texas and that Rick Perry is marginal. Hopefully Dan Patrick will stand tall and show some backbone. He does have the highest conservative ratings of any Texas state senator.

  9. Dr. Rumzek raises a valid point. I remember when DPS was handed that piece of legislation, passed by a democrat-controlled State House. We have a lot of “undoing” to do.

This is why support of your State Candidates is CRITICAL. We now have only a TWO VOTE majority.

Get busy! Support and work for your state candidates!

  10. Sir, we are Texans. We are known for being very independent and not waiting to be told to do something. When are you state legislators going to get off your rears and do something about the problem, in Texas. We have a Texas National Guard. Let’s use it to secure our borders and stop whining about what the White house thinks. We as citizens don’t have the legal authority to secure the border, but you, as our elected representatives do. Quit blaming everyone else. Texas needs to step up and be a leader to the nation. Then we should very quickly put into place a program where our friends, south of the border, or anywhere else for that matter, can regester and obtain the legal right to work in Texas. That should be very easy to develop and put into place. No more complaining Senator. Now get to it, or step aside so someone else can.

  11. Check Texas Department of Safety (DPS) operational procedures and I think you will find the same limitations as placed on Arizona. They are not allowed to ask about citizenship either. Additionally, DPS also registers EVERYONE who gets a drivers license to vote, don’t they? So, I agree with you. We do have a problem and it was created by our own Texas Government!

  12. Dear Senator Patrick:
I have already heard our Governor at a LaRaza say that Arizona’s law is not for Texas. How are you going to get this into law without the Governor’s veto?

  13. Okay Mr. Patrick, I hear the talk now let’s see SOME ACTION. I’m one of your Christian constituents from the greater Houston area and know all about you and your life.
Do we really need more laws or enforce what’s on the books?
