Michael McCaul5cTexas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. —

“Last week the House Homeland Security Committee, which I chair, unanimously approved legislation I introduced to compel the Department of Homeland Security to develop a strategy for gaining operational control of our borders.

“Most Americans will agree that we have an immigration problem, and my legislation addresses what I believe should be a prerequisite to reforming our immigration system.

“It’s my belief that we cannot address the other aspects of illegal immigration, and how we deal with the illegal immigrants already here, until we secure our borders.  We must not repeat the mistakes of the past when the promise of border McCaul Homeland Security Committee Chairsecurity went unfulfilled.”

Congressman Michael McCaul (TX-10) is Chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security. His Bill, H.R. 1417, addresses only Border Security, is independent of efforts to reform our immigration system, and is discussed in further detail here.       Continue Reading.

When Did We Vote to Become Mexico?

By Ann Coulter

ann-coulter33At first I thought the IRS scandal was leaked to distract from the Benghazi scandal. But that didn’t make sense because the IRS scandal is a more obvious abuse of power than the White House lying about the murder of four Americans in Libya. Continue Reading.

Dershowitz: Issa’s Right, Lerner Waived Her Right Against Self-Incrimination

BY ALLAHPUNDIT

alan-dershowitzYesterday I gave you an expert’s skeptical take on whether she inadvertently waived her Fifth Amendment right. Today, via Newsmax, here’s another expert with the inevitable “au contraire” — and he’s not hedging his bets either. Watch the clip and you’ll find him treating this as an easy lay-up for Issa in court; he actually uses the term “open-and-shut case” and accuses her lawyer of malpractice for letting her give a statement. Is he right? At the Volokh Conspiracy, Orin Kerr says it’s hard to tell because there simply isn’t much precedent.
