Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – Medicaid, America’s safety-net program for more than 62 million low-income uninsured Americans, is broken. Medicaid’s pay-as-you-go, fragmented financing system — split 60/40, on average, between the states and the feds — has made the program a magnet for fraud.

The Government Accountability Office estimates that fraud, waste and abuse take close to 10% of annual program spending (over $428 billion in 2011). That’s over $34 billion annually.     Continue Reading.

Congressmen Encouraged by Pena Nieto’s Strategy Against Cartels

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – Designated by U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner to represent the United States at the inauguration of President Enrique Pena Nieto in Mexico City, Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX), incoming Homeland Security Committee Chairman, and Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-TX-28) expressed encouragement about Mexico’s movement toward security and economic prosperity following meetings with the newly elected President and members of his cabinet.
